3 Ways to Worship God With Your Life Today!

Hey everyone, welcome back to Serenity in the Spirit! It's been a while since the latest blog post but we're back with a new word for August 'Go'. Sometimes I find myself waiting for the right time to start something; a new Bible study or a new quiet time routine. I am one of those people who likes to start fresh at the beginning of a week or month and not in the middle but I am convinced that living this way means we could miss out on the blessings God has for us. Let's face it, days are manmade and God works all hours of everyday not just a Monday morning.

Sometimes I feel we have over-complicated how to have a relationship with God when really, there are some 'smaller' things we can be doing at any time to try and become closer to Him.

The inspiration for this post came from Psalm 105:1:

"Oh give thanks to the LORD; call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples!"

In just one verse, we have 3 ways that we can use our lives to worship God that we can start it straight away!

1. Giving Thanks

Tonight, before you go to bed, write a list of 5 things you are grateful for then repeat every night for a week. Practicing gratitude can lift our mood and remind us to focus on what we DO have rather than what we're waiting on God for. Once you've written your list, pray through them thanking God for each one. If you can't think of 5, a good place to start may be the things we take for granted like clean running water, or electricity. Don't forget that every good and perfect gift comes from the Lord (James 1:17).

2. Call Upon His Name

Are you facing a hard time? Do you feel like there is something missing in your life? We know that it's only through Jesus that we can be satisfied (John 4:14) so why not call on Him to ask for His help and take refuge from the storm you are facing at the moment? As mentioned in the last blog post, we often turn to everyone/everything else before truly seeking God for help. Instead, we need to recognise that God is where our strength and ability to do everything comes from.

3. Make Known His Deeds

I believe as Christians we should be keen to share the good news with others. If you think about it, to not share the blessing of the gospel is selfish and cruel - we should want everyone to experience the goodness and transformation that following our Lord has given us. I challenge you to tell someone about the goodness of God in the next 7 days, talk about what He has done for you and the promise of His Word. This can be daunting but pray throughout and ask God for an opportunity and for boldness - you'll be surprised how God can speak through you if you make yourself available.

The rest of Psalm 105 goes on to speak about all that God did for His chosen people and adds a few other things we can do to worship Jesus in our lives: sing His praises, seek Him and remember of His goodness (particularly in hard times). Worshipping God with your life does not mean you will get things right all of the time, but it does require effort and this blog post has given you plenty to start with! Don't forget, these are all in addition to regularly studying God's Word, prayer, attending a church, fasting etc. we should be seeking as many ways as possible to edify ourselves, strengthen our Spirit and weaken our flesh.

I hope this post has encouraged you and that you can pick up at least one additional way to worship God with your life this week. Please keep an eye out on our social media channels for more encouragement and to stay up to date with the latest blog posts.

God bless,

SiTS x
